Zonta Internacional

Zonta International is a global NGO, founded in 1919 in the United States. The main objectives of this organization are to reduce violence against girls and women, as well as to promote education to achieve the empowerment of women under the declaration of equal rights for this sector of society.

Through the volunteerism of its more than 29,000 members distributed in 1,200 clubs located in 63 countries,

Zonta seeks to positively impact the reality of women in vulnerable situations. Its projects emphasize the welfare of girls, the right to education, and the search for equal opportunities. The main focus is on eradicating gender violence and customs that damage integrity, such as child marriage.

In more than 90 years of empowering women, Zonta has invested close to 19.2 million dollars in different types of projects. Working in partnership with the United Nations, UNICEF, and other non-governmental organizations, current projects include:

  • Eradicate Child Marriage.
  • NO to violence against women and girls.
  • University scholarships for women in fields commonly led by men (aerospace and engineering, business management, public affairs and technology).
